Romeo and Juliet

Love, hate ,  family issues,  forbidden love,  death battles, costume parties, secret weddings, love till the end,   certainly when we hear those words we can imagine one of William Shakespiere’s work, Romeo and Juliet.  Of course, Romeo and Juliet is a masterpiece not only because it’s a famous and ancient work but it has been represented so many times in so many ways and in different languages.  For example in Baz Luhrmann’s movie “Romeo + Juliet” this masterpiece is represented in a modern style in a city called “Verona” which is a mix between Mexico city and California.  We can say that Luhrmann is a real genius because he kept in the real story, the same dialogues of the book and also took them to a modern world.

Firstly, Romeo is an interesting character and Luhrmann knew the perfect way to represent him in a modern era; Leonardo di Caprio got that image and interpreted his character wonderfully because when you watch the movie, you really think that Romeo has travelled in time. Leonardo is a versatile actor and in this movie he really kept the script perfectly and catches the attention of the viewer  in every move he makes, in everything he says and the way he talks. I think it is important that an actor feels like his character, and the director made a great job with Leonardo because he shows us a Romeo come out directly from the Shakespeare´s play. He also achieves a good desenvolment and relation with the other characters because this make him see natural and doesn´t take us away from the story even if the characters doesn´t look like the characters we imagined on the book.
I really like Romeo because it is really interesting the way he lives and stays in his own world of love, the way he pulled out his depression with just a simple meeting, the way he fights against his family oppression, the way he looks for Tybald’s acceptation   And the way he changed of view when Teobald killed his best friend Mercutio, he didn´t care and decided to kill him. The way Romeo uses his emotions, for example, he wasn´t decided to go to the party in Capulet’s house and when he knew Juliet he didn´t wanted to go, so he come back to look for her. Is a character dominated for passion. Also is interesting how his passions for Juliette grows exponentially that he get married with her and he die for her. Another interesting thing is the feeling Juliet has to him, even that Romeo is instable and that he had killed his cousin, she still being faithful to him.

I think it is really impressive the way Luhrmann’s adapted Romeo to this modern background and how he keeps with the original Romeo essence because he keeps all the romantic properties that makes him one of the most wanted characters for women. Although the film is set in the 90's, Romeo's character remains the same; it retains the same essence as the original character does, he doesn´t changes at all. Dialogs, accions, emotions, the way they get relationated with others, attitudes, aptitudes, values, crazy actions, trickeries, conduct. Luhrmann implements all the magic in  Romeo so we don´t lose the interest and we could believe that we are really watching the original play.

It´s a fact that the director refreshes all characters giving them a comic and different touch to Shakespeare’s play, for example, Mercutio is shown like a funnier character than in the original work, his appearance is like a non-white person, Theoblad, like the typical bad guy fashionably dressed, unlike the other characters who were wearing Hawaiin shirts. But Romeo mantains his original essence although when he is wearing modern clothing, that is why Romeo is my favorite character, because it doesn´t matter if he is in the modern world he will keep his essence.

Fantastic Movie

Fantastic  Movie
What defines a fantastic movie? Well, most of the people say that a fantastic movie should be mainly well done, because, who wants to watch a movie with lack of good effects and badly done? In my opinion a movie should have a good story that catches the attention of the viewers and a good performance, properly camera movement besides the special effects. Also the sound is really important; an excellent soundtrack may keep the viewer attention on the screen and may contextualize each scene. Each scene needs a different beat so this makes a film interesting, not boring and versatile; also if music is perfectly mixed with the scenes it makes the viewer interact with the film. If a movie has all this points, then it becomes a fantastic movie. When we talk about an animated movie the characters must be original, the animation company must look for excellent voice actors that get on with them and graphics should be amazingly well done.
I think Megamind is a fantastic movie. Why Megamind? First of all the special effects, Megamind is a 3D animated movie produced by Dreamworks animation , its effects are really well done because the look real, specially backgrounds, night and day transitions,  for example when Megamind is about to fight his own creation of a super hero, Titan, appears in the sky with an enormous model of his head made of his own robots and weapons and says “what is the difference between a villain and a super-villain?...presentation” that scene was really amazingly made  because it mixed great special effects, dialogues, music and camera movement.  This movie was even showed in Digital 3D and Imax 3D so basically the special effects are great.
Dreamworks is known for the kind of “adult humor” that their animated movies contain, it is also known because in most of the academy awards, Pixar Always takes the price. But this “adult humor” it’s mostly an advantage that a disadvantage, for example it makes an animated movie that is mainly for Kids, all audience rated specially for adolescents. Megamind also has this kind of humor that makes it a great and funny movie. Teens and Adults may laugh and enjoy this movie as Kids do.
One of the most important thing about movies and as I mentioned before is the story line, Despite the fact that  Megamind is based in superman, Megamind as a character comes to be very original and the story line is awesome because of the fact that Dreamworks knew how to tell a great story about a super-villain who turned into a superhero and not to get bored the people who watched it. One important point of a film is when it makes you feel like you were one of the characters, for example, when Metroman fakes his death with Megamind’s sun blazer you feel like if you were Megamind and get surprised about his death and even get more surprised when he discovers Metroman’s trick.

Why megamind is a fantastic movie? It combines an awesome storyline, great special effects, nice animation, amazing music and great actors both version English and Latin American, and because it reached an estimated 47.7 million dollars in its opening weekend. Megamind is definitively a fantastic movie.

First homework

I remember one moment of my life when I was a child  I used to be very calm but when my father bought my first computer  with an internet access  I met the worst side of me, I became an “Internetholic”.
At the beginning I didn’t know how to use the internet because in that time it was something new. Some days later I started to learn about it and with a lot of practice I was able to understand it.
My first’s steps in internet were playing in sites like “cartoonnetwork.com” or similar kid’s sites, then I opened my first e-mail account at yahoo.com which I still conserve. At yahoo.com there were many kinds of groups and I found one that was of my favorite cartoon show.  I started to mail the people that were subscribed to those groups. I had found out that I had many friends so one of them told me to download yahoo messenger, so I did it and I realized that it was a easier way to communicate with them; because of that my addiction began.
I was logged in 24/7 at first my parents didn’t care that much but they started to worry because I stopped doing other important things, I only care about internet.  I didn’t realize that this was a problem so I kept doing it. The problem became bigger and bigger so my parents got mad and I got grounded several times.  At that time I used to scream and cry so loud because my dad took my internet away he even took the CPU away.  I started to realize that this was a problem.
I also liked to download movies and series and I didn’t care about viruses and my computer died. My father didn’t want me to buy another but he did, he told me that I need to be more responsible for my things and not to use internet every day.
I recognized that I had problem because my friends got angry because instead of going out with them I preferred playing in the internet.  They stopped talking to me and then I convinced myself to stop that addiction My self-esteem was going down to the floor and I started to change.
The first action I did was turn off my modem when I was doing homework. Then I began to sleep earlier. That last thing helped me in so many ways.
I learned my lesson, my parents don’t get angry anymore and I can hang out with my friends and do more activities; I’m sleeping more hours and doing different things in the day to avoid the use of internet.
